New Concert Program - Bob Dylan: The Early Years

Bob Dylan: The Early Years pays tribute to America's most influential singer-songwriter of the 1960’s and the only musician ever awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. With both guitar and banjo, Drew Velting plays and sings a wide-ranging selection of Dylan’s early original compositions (1961- 1973) along with songs by Woody Guthrie and other folk singers who profoundly influenced and inspired Dylan’s work. The concert begins with songs of protest that ensured Dylan’s status as a leading counterculture figurehead in the early 1960’s and moves on to highlight his musical development as poet, folk-rock icon and Nashville recording star – a celebration of the ever-changing, musical genius that Dylan demonstrated over the first decade of his career.
